Gene-o Parenica

Assistant Pastor – Student Ministries

I was born in Sweetwater, Texas, but spent most of my childhood across the world.  My dad was in the Air Force and our family lived in the Philippines, Canada and southern part of the states.  Our family settled back to Texas and l went to Cooper High in Abilene.  During high School, God called me to the ministry, but I made many excuses of why I could not be used.

In 1976 I moved to Arlington to attend college and major in Architecture.  In 1979, I attended Urbana ’79, a mission’s conference sponsored by Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship.  The last night of the conference, I laid down my excuses and experienced the strength that God offers to willing vessels.  Since 1982, I have had the privilege to serve as an inner-city missionary, and children/youth pastor.  I have been involved in evangelism, discipleship, and teaching ministries to children, teens and adults.  God has gifted me in the area of communicating His truth to believers, and encouraging them in their walk with God and personal outreach.

God has given me a wonderful family.  Valerie, my wife of 25 years, and I have 3 children.  Our two daughters are in college and our son is in high school.  Our oldest daughter was married in August 2007 and we now have a wonderful son-in-law.

I am excited about serving as the associate pastor at Crossroads and I continually look forward to see God’s mighty work in the lives our children and adults.
